Ashtynn Roberts hits first homer of the season in tourney win

BELLVILLE — Clear Fork senior Trinity Cook couldn’t have scripted it any better when she hit her first career home run Monday on Senior Night.

But she’s not the only Colt with a perfect sense of timing.

Fellow senior Ashtynn Roberts picked Tuesday to hit her first homer of the season, helping her own dazzling performance in the circle as the host Colts blanked Norwalk 10-0 in five innings in the Division II sectional softball semifinals.

“We’ve been pretty hot at the plate the last week or two,” coach Chris Clapper said. “We got off to a slow start today, but hitting’s been contagious with this team. Once we got the first (hit), I knew some more were coming.”

With the temperature hitting 80, the Colts’ performance against Norwalk continued a warming trend by the team and all but screamed “Hey, Mother Nature, what took you so long?”
