The Warriors missed are starting to pile up

Klay Thompson 5-of-17 shooting, Andrew Wiggins 6-of-16. Misses started to pile up late in the third. Celtics have life, down only 10 with 12 minutes left. Was 22

Will Udoka ride his starters the rest of the way?

The Celtics have made one sub this entire third quarter: Grant Williams for Robert Williams. It’s allowed them to cut the lead to single digits. But the same question from Game 5 looms: will they have enough energy down the stretch to sustain it? Will Ime Udoka again ride his starters or will he try to sneak some bench minutes in? And what happens if/when the Warriors respond with a counterpunch?

It’s not over yet

Celtics are a +10 since the Stephen Curry ring celebration. Lead down to 12. Some life in this building

Draymond Green has been sensational

Draymond Green has been sensational tonight. Made every right read and rotation, and even banged in a couple of 3s. It’s 72-50, and Don Meredith is about to turn out the lights. (Old Monday Night Football reference, kids.)

Steph Curry is hungry for another ring

Looked like Steph Curry just pointed at his ring finger after that transition bomb. It put the Warriors up 22, mid third quarter. Sixteen made 3s for the Warriors tonight.

US Open Stars Rory McIlroy and Harold Varner are in the building

A little R&R at the NBA Finals for at least two of the US Open Stars. Rory McIlroy and Harold Varner are at Game 6 at Boston’s TD Garden, which is not far from Brookline Country Club. Varner, sponsored by Jordan Brand, wears Air Jordan golf shoes, and McIlroy is a known NBA fan.

Several key players have multiple fouls going into halftime

The Warriors rested Steph Curry for the final 41 seconds of that first half. He was bent over and looked in some level of discomfort. He didn’t ask out, but Steve Kerr called him to the sideline. He was also protecting him from getting a third foul. Curry and Klay Thompson have two at halftime. Kevon Looney has three. On the Celtics side, Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart have three.

Marcus Smart doing everything possible to keep Celtics in it

Marcus Smart is giving the Celtics a second chance with his intensity and creativity down the stretch. The Celtics head to the locker room down 15, but they need to figure out what on earth their offense is here if they want to keep the Finals alive. Draymond Green has Jayson Tatum figured out on his drives and Jaylen Brown has struggled to dribble penetrate without turning it over. Ime Udoka gave Peyton Pritchard eight minutes and that didn’t work. Is he going to ride his starters all the way to the finish line again?

The Celtics look exhausted

It’s impossible not to notice: the Celtics look TIRED.

It makes sense considering their road here. But in the finals, Ime Udoka has kept his rotation super short. Mostly six players, save for the occasional stints from Payton Pritchard and Grant Williams. But especially in the second half, the Celtics have ridden Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart hard.

Vintage Draymond Green in this 1st half

Six rebounds, five assists and a defensive clinic from Draymond Green in this first half. He called out the cut and then pinpointed that last pass to a cutting Klay Thompson to give the Warriors an 18-point lead. Largest of this first half.

Celtics getting nothing from their bench in Game 6

The Celtics have gotten almost nothing from their bench over the last game and a half. Derrick White has been rough tonight. Payton Pritchard and Grant Williams are a combined 0 for 3. The Warriors have gone on 10-0 runs twice over the past couple of games with Curry on the bench.

Two of Boston’s star players are in foul trouble

Three fouls on Marcus Smart, and now three fouls on Jayson Tatum. The Celtics’ counterpunch was short-circuited by the former’s third foul. Can they somehow stay connected after the latter’s third?
